The following are our guidelines for Freelance Artists.

GUIDELINES FOR FREELANCE ARTISTS

CAPE SHORE manufactures and distributes a quality line of paper products and giftware. We use freelance artists for our coordinated paper line, home décor and gift products. We are seeking artists with new ideas to fit into our market of ‘regional looks’.  We have an emphasis on high quality artwork that describes different regions of the United States: Northeast, Southeast and Tropics, Midwest, West Coast, Pacific Northwest and Southwest. Designs are selected in the fall for the upcoming year.

NOTATIONS manufactures and distributes a line of paper products and giftware to the mass market.  We use freelance artists primarily for our note cards and Christmas cards.  Designs are selected throughout the entire year and may have seasonal or regional themes.

We are looking for bright, full color designs with realistic details.

Possible Subject Matter:
· Nautical:  beach scenes, shells, lighthouses, lobsters, birds, fish and sea life (dolphins), sailboats
· Regional ‘souvenir’ themes:  Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, West Coast, Great Lakes and Southwest.
· Vacation destinations themes: cabins, canoes, fishing, beach etc.
· Everyday themes:  florals, gardening, fruit or vegetables, pretty patterns, etc.
· Landscapes:  lakes, rivers, mountains, inland, etc.
· Wildlife: (stylized high quality realism) loons, ducks, songbirds, moose, wolf, eagle, black bear, grizzly bear, etc.
· Christmas:  nautical themes are our specialty, but we also need inland lodge styles.

Designs may be submitted that are not commissioned from us, but they are considered to be on speculation until final acceptance.

Designs commissioned by Cape Shore are not considered ordered until a sketch is approved.

Payment is negotiated based on product category.

· Do NOT send original art- send color copies, printed samples or electronic files (jpegs, tifs, etc.).
· Each piece should include your name, address, phone, fax, or e-mail address.
· Please include a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) for the return of your art.  Submissions without a SASE will not be returned.
· Submissions are accepted year round. Artwork for Cape Shore is reviewed in the late fall.  We will contact you if you if we need to see more samples, or if we need to keep your samples on file for future reference.
